Edwin Robinson was the son of John Robinson, shipowner, and his wife Isabella.

Edwin entered the High School in 1885, and left in 1889. According to the admission register, he left "to go on voyage to become a dentist eventually".

However, Edwin emigrated to Canada and became a farmer in Saskatchawan.

In 1915, at the age of 42 he enlisted with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force, and in March, 1918, he fought at the Battle of Moreuil Woof, in France where he lost his life.

He is commemorated at the Noyon New British Cemetery, just south of Amiens.
